I have 16 years’ consulting experience providing animal health and welfare science support services and advice in livestock infectious diseases and control options, and almost four decades experience in the animal health industry.

My clients have included the pharmaceutical industry, government, the agricultural research and development corporations, veterinarians, and farmers.

I help my clients improve the health and well being of their animals.

My consulting services include:

  • Farm animal disease control programs.

  • Advice on food safety aspects of farm animal diseases, including risk assessment and antibiotic stewardship.

  • Advice on best practice for common farm animal husbandry procedures.

  • Livestock disease investigations, with a focus on small ruminant (sheep and goat) infectious disease diagnosis, management, control and treatment.

I have managed and conducted research on an extensive range of infectious diseases of farm animals, including bacterial, viral and parasitic diseases.    

Other research projects have included analgesia for common sheep husbandry procedures and development of nonsurgical alternatives.

I am skilled at managing complex research projects across multiple organizations .

My research services include research study protocol development and design, research study implementation and monitoring, management of complex research projects across multiple organizations, and research project and program review for the Rural Research & Development Corporations.

My writing services include scientific literature reviews, as well as development of publications from concept to content to design.

  • I have almost four decades experience in the animal health industry. I bring broad animal health experience and networks, creative thinking and passion for the health and welfare of animals to all of my work.

  • As well as my veterinary degree, which I received ‘With Distinction’, I have formal postgraduate training in veterinary pathology, infectious disease and immunology (Master degree and PhD). I am highly experienced in farm animal infectious disease diagnosis, treatment and control.

  • My training is international. I completed my veterinary training in Canada and my postgraduate training in Australia. During my PhD I was awarded a British Council Postgraduate Bursary for study at Moredun Research Institute in Scotland, an institute renowned for research on infectious diseases of farmed livestock.

  • I have managed and conducted research on an extensive range of infectious diseases of farm animals:

    • Viral diseases of sheep and goats, including orf virus (scabby mouth virus, contagious pustular dermatitis), ovine parainfluenza-3 virus and ovine respiratory syncytial virus.

    • Bacterial diseases, including Johne’s disease, bacterial pneumonia of sheep and goats, and bacterial joint infections in lambs.

    • Parasitic disease of cattle, sheep, and goats, including intestinal roundworms, liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) and sheep flystrike (myasis) control.

  • I have also managed and conducted research on analgesia for common sheep husbandry procedures and provided the veterinary support that underpinned the first-ever registration of a non-steroidal inflammatory drug for use in sheep in three markets simultaneously (Australia, Canada, and New Zealand).

  • I am skilled at managing complex research project across multiple organizations, for example universities and contract research providers. I have extensive experience managing and reviewing research programs for the Australian agricultural research and development corporations.

  • My broad education and training experience includes teaching and training veterinary students, veterinary nursing students, farm industry personnel, abattoir personnel and veterinarians. I am highly skilled at presenting complex information in a way that makes it easy for others to understand.
